Hello,
I started on Substack with Jodi Taylor Books as I’m her agent. Now, I thought it would be fun to explore some of my own interests here.
So, a bit about me. Most people know me as Jodi Taylor’s agent and the former owner and founder of Accent Press. This was an independent publishing company that I founded after completing an MA in Creative Writing when I was forty. I was also a single mother to seven year-old triplets at the time - I like to keep busy! In 2019 I sold Accent Press to Headline, part of the Hachette group.
My kids had all graduated from uni and started their own lives so I fulfilled a long-term ambition to learn to sail, bought a boat and spent time sailing in Asia. I also met a man - more of that later.
Now we live in Dorset, a beautiful county in the south of England. The man and me own a boat and still sail but also enjoy exploring this beautiful part of England.
I plan to write about an eclectic mix of subjects and hope that some of them will interest you. I hope to inspire would-be entrepreneurs that you can do it - I had no business qualifications but built a very successful company and had a huge amount of fun doing it. I hope that women of a certain age will be encouraged that, at sixty, I started to learn to sail, and not only left my comfort zone, but several time zones behind exploring the coasts of Malaysia and Thailand. And I hope to connect with likeminded people through this fabulous platform.
